Nursing with style

Life is ephemeral.

My parents instilled in me that wherever you go, it is integral to deliver value. We only have one shot in this world, which can simultaneously be both a scary and beautiful thought. My goal in life is to help, serve, and inspire people on a massive scale while exposing myself to all the wonders that life has to offer. Thus, I decided to go to nursing school, become a blogger and pursue entrepreneurship.

In two months time, I will be entering my fourth year of nursing at Mount Royal University–which is in Calgary, Canada– and I’m both ecstatic and nervous. In the past couple years, I have experienced the full spectrum of happiness to sadness and everything in between (‘no ragrets’-not even one letter;)). I couldn’t have survived it without the help of my family, friends and amazing instructors! These experiences are truly invaluable to me.

One of the most unforgettable experiences

One of the most unforgettable experiences happened in  my first year. I was walking inside a Walmart and a man stopped me for change, but unfortunately I didn’t have any on me. He asked if I was in school and what I was taking. As soon as I said nursing, his eyes dilated (like a nursing student’s eyes the first time they see someone else’s fecal matter) and he asked me if we could chat for a few minutes. Our conversation lasted nearly an hour! He told me his life story and said that nurses changed his life. I was moved by his narrative and realized that day that I had made the right decision in pursuing nursing. It is amazing how open and trusting a stranger will be because of a certain profession. Think about that for a second. Trust is one of the hardest things to earn in this world yet people trust nursessimply because of what we do. That is powerful stuff! And we know… with great power comes great responsibility. I want to remind nurses/nursing students of that responsibility and how much of a difference it makes in people’s lives.

As for my blog, my focus is on menswear and travel right now. However, after I graduate I will incorporate my nursing knowledge and experience to promote a holistic and healthy way of living. It is never too late for nurses to provide education, especially about upstream thinking. With today’s technology we have widespread access to reach and educate the global community. After all, being a nurse is on and off the clock.

What an inspiring story. And you, young man are truly blessed to have met this lovely lady at school. Madison is a true, loving, kind friend as well.
I personally also have a niece who does very special home care, and her wonderful husband is also a nurse. ❤️
Wishing you all the very best life has to offer. We all need nurses. Thankyou.
