How Will Being Vulnerable Change Your Life?
Brene Brown shares a very powerful TED Talk about vulnerability. Her talk emphasized that vulnerability is the first step to creating a meaningful connection. She also shared that connection is why we exist. To connect with others, connect with society and connect with ourself.
“In order for connection to happen, we have to allow ourself to be seen…to really be seen.”
-Brene Brown
Build A Bridge of Connection Over the Water of Emotions
A connection is built when people open up their heart to show their real emotions. It is this opening, like a crack in river in spring, that let’s the water of emotions flow. This water (emotions), can only be crossed by building a bridge. A connection is water builds this bridge.
‘People who have a strong sense of love and belonging, feel they are worthy of love and belonging.” -Brene Brown
Courage is a Latin word and the original definition – “to have the story of who you are with your whole heart.” Be courageous and build a connection through authenticity. Let go of who you want to be in order to show who you really are.
Therefore, fully embrace vulnerability. What makes you vulnerable is what makes you real. It is not comfortable, uncomfortable or neutral- it is essential. Further, vulnerability is the most accurate measure of courage.
“Vulnerability is the birthplace of creativity, innovation and change.” -Brene Brown
Therefore, we must be vulnerable in order to adapt to change.
Remember
- Let yourself be deeply seen for everything you are
- Be full of gratitude and joy
- Know that you are the only YOU- so embrace it!
