Youth Are the Spark of the
Community
A community is comprised of people of all ages who come together to learn, play, work, love and grow. Each member of the community brings forward their own creative and unique traits. Youth Are the Spark of the Community. Youth are full of life, new ideas and help a community grow.
Oh to be a kid again….
I want share a story of a childhood memory.
It was the summer of 1971. I would hop on my bike, peddle to meet up with my friends and the rest of our day would be filled with splashing around in the water down at Newcastle Beach and playing baseball on the diamonds. We would then go to the diner after really working up an appetite, and munch away on fries, gravy and cherry Coke. What could be better than this?
It was the environment of camaraderie, lively engagement and a heartfelt ease that allowed us to be surrounded in such an upbeat place. I want this environment to continue for the youth all over.
After all, youth have so much to bring to the community through creative ideas, events, and workshops that they would like to see started in their community or better yet, start themselves. So, I encourage all youth to become involved in their community in any way they can. Community leaders want to hear the input from youth and see them active because they are the spark that keeps the community moving forward.
“Spark that keeps the community moving forward”
Whether you want to be involved in an organization such as the Humane Society to share your love of animals, be part of the library to explore your love of books, showcase your artistic and musical talent to seniors, or do just about anything else imaginable, most communities have these activities. And if they do not, something can surely be created.
Therefore, I am thankful and respecting of youth who are willing to take the time to be involved from an early age. Be sure to continue to let your spark shine bright no matter young or old. We all need to share our creative spark. It’s also important to sometimes take a step back and enjoy the little pleasures of life just like when you were a kid. This might mean sipping on one of those cherry Cokes I mentioned.
