Intro

If you have a passion for animals and want to help endangered species, it is not always clear which charity to donate your hard-earned money. With so many animals, projects, and different priorities to choose from, some research is needed before you go ahead and donate.

This article gives some background on the top charities for helping endangered animals and how you can support those that focus solely on wildlife conservation.

Decide on your priorities!

Many charities help Canadian wildlife in a variety of different ways. Digging down into what each charity does often involves taking a deeper look at each charity’s mission statement.

Although many charities raise funds for animals and wildlife, a smaller number are focused on helping endangered animals. To help find out exactly what each charity does, look into reviews of what projects they have funded and carried out to give a clearer idea of the work they have done.

There are also other ways to raise money for charity and buy gifts at the same time. You can also choose to buy products to raise money for animal charities, such as this beautiful range of wildlife conservation jewelry

Types of charities

Some national charities that focus specifically on helping endangered animals are Wildlife Preservation Canada and the Wildlife Conservation Society of Canada. They’re also a range of smaller and more localized options that prevent the extinction of species.

These include charities such as the Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy. The zoo works to raise funds for helping endangered species. Under the umbrella of its campaign of “extinct is forever,” the zoo attempts to raise awareness that species are vanishing 100 times faster than normal rates. It also works on breeding programs to revitalize species that would otherwise be under threat and repatriate them into their natural habitats.

On a more national level, Wildlife Preservation Canada’s sole mission is to prevent any animal species in Canada from being threatened by extinction. The organization has its own conservation action plan, and many of its successful projects can be viewed online. Because of its size, the WPC partners with federal and local administrations, other charities, educational institutions, and voluntary groups to deliver outcomes. It has also built a scholarship program to rear the next generation of Canadian animal conservation leaders.

The Wildlife Conservation Society of Canada is the Canadian subsidiary of the worldwide organization. The WCS works with a scientific approach to bring sustainable outcomes to conservation challenges. It focuses on particularly environmentally sensitive areas of Canada to proactively protect those ecosystems. Because of the importance of those natural environments to so many species, their protection is fundamental to the ongoing viability of those species.

In summary

There are many ways to support endangered animals in Canada, and a wide choice of organizations that try to do this. Finding charitable organizations that focus only on the preservation of species is not always easy.

This article has summarized some of them. As well as donating to charities, you can also choose to buy some creative and innovative products to support wildlife conservation, such as these beautiful animal tracker bracelets.
